Yasuní Biosphere Reserve in Ecuador: A World Biodiversity Hotspot🦥🦜🐞🐸🌺

Yasuní Biosphere Reserve is the Yasuni
National Park and Waorani Ethnical Reserve in Ecuador.

OVERVIEW

A World Biodiversity Hotspot.

Yasuní in Ecuador is a major protected area within the western Amazon, occupies a unique location at the intersection of the Andes (<100 km from the Andean foothills), the Amazon (near the western phytogeographic limit of the Amazon Basin), and the Equator (∼1° S)

The distribution of amphibian, bird, mammal, and vascular plant species across South America shows that Yasuní occupies a unique biogeographic position where the species richness of all four taxonomic groups reaches diversity maxima.

Orchids of the Amazon Rainforest: Yasuni Biosphere Reserve Collection🐸🐒 🌺🏵🌸

Orchids are unique and diverse group of plants, which had captive the attention of humans for several thousands of years. Here an small example of the Diversity of the Yasuni Orchids.

They had been rescued from light gaps, fallen branches swept by the storms, broken branches, or rotten branches; many of them came in different shapes but with time most of them recover.

We would like to understand their ecology, such as light difference, soil needs, fungi and others.

Check some of this incredible world of beauty.
We need help with right names.
Thanks enjoy it

The Anaconda is Attacked by Porcupine in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve🐍🐍🐍

We founds this anaconda resting along the the side of the Shiripuno River when we're heading downstream towards the Shiripuno Lodge.

The Anaconda is one of the most powerful reptiles tht live in the Amazon, seems like it was not
strong enough with the Porcupine.
The spine of the rodents were incrusted in the Anaconda skin!! I got some..

Waorani People with Blowgun using Poisoned Darts for Hunting🦥🐒🦜

Karue is the from the Last Generation who was living in armony with the Rainforest, 60 years ago he was a kid who played with spears and blowguns in the forest of the Yasuni. he had seem many events over that time: Lost forever 75% of their ancestral land, a god was presented in a book, deseases got introduced, shot guns brought by the oil companies, pollution to his rivers.

He had spotted a roast up in the canopy and had decide to bring it down for his family dinner.

Blowguns are made of palm tree trunks, it has two parts which are put together with bee wax from the forest and lianas to keep both parts together and air tight.

Blowguns are the most impressive weapon for hunting monkeys and birds ever created for indigenous people in the Amazon.

Yasuni Wilderness: Sharing Life Diversity

My name is Fernando Vaca and I am a naturalist guide from the remote Yasuni National Park in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.
I have been lucky enough to explore this unique wilderness since 1998. I have been discovering its diversity, from tiny ants to elusive jaguars, and sharing these discoveries through the internet. My wish is to continue doing so for many years to come.

The Yasuni Biosphere Reserve is home to an outstanding diversity of life. It holds about 30% of the mammals of the entire Amazon Basin; about 644 tree species in one hectare; the 150 amphibian species documented to date is a world record among comparable landscapes. Over 560 bird species have been recorded, one of the highest known totals in the world.
The conservation of all this diversity of life is urgent and the public must become more aware of its importance for the sake of future generations.
